Antonti Porowski's 5 Pantry Must Haves

Antonti Porowski's 5 Pantry Must Haves

Recently we had Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski on the podcast and he shared his quick, easy, go-to meals and pantry “must haves” from his new cookbook, Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner. Interested in knowing what ingredients he uses to make his decadent meals? We got you covered. Here are Antoni’s five pantry must-haves to ensure you always have something on-hand to make your meals  tasty and flavorful - the Antoni Way!

Antoni’s Top 5 Pantry Staples:

1. Tomato paste in a tube

Antoni recommends using tomato paste in a tube rather than canned tomato paste because it lasts longer and has a richer flavor. Although it costs more than canned tomato paste he says it’s definitely worth the extra dollar.

2. Chickpeas

This is another staple in his pantry as he uses chickpeas in many of his recipes. One of his recipes in his new cookbook uses this ingredient in a vegan chili made with chickpeas, quinoa, and white beans. Yum!

3. Cannellini Beans

Another common bean Antoni uses in his dishes are cannellini beans, because  they are high in protein and easy to find at your local grocery store. His quick and easy go-to snack that only takes ten minutes to make? Butter bean and tuna dressed in tangy tomato sauce.

4. Anchovies in a jar

Although not a favorite pantry item for many, Antoni swears this is a must have for him. One of his favorite ways of eating anchovies is adding them to a warm kale and chicken salad with toasted hazelnuts and croutons.

5. Banza Chickpea Pasta

Antoni says this is his number one go to item in his pantry. For all lovers of pasta, he says this pasta is a great substitute because it's high in protein and low in carbs compared to regular pasta. Eating this type of pasta leads to zero guilt and will have you serving yourself seconds.

*Bonus Breakfast Tip*

If you are an egg lover, but have been struggling to get your technique just right, Antoni says the secret to the perfect soft scrambled eggs is actually water. For every two eggs, add a teaspoon of water. That’s it! Just cook on low heat in a pan and you’re all set. And if you’re feeling adventurous, put them on a warm croissant and *chef’s kiss* - you have the perfect scrambled egg breakfast. Antoni has tested this with milk and other replacements but found that good ole water does the trick!

Antoni says adding these five pantry items to your pantry will guarantee you flavorful meals and have you cooking like a pro in your own kitchen. Interested in learning more in depth about how Antoni uses these ingredients? Check out the podcast episode below to find out.
